Together with The Unending Gaze there are eight – seven created from the Bones that came before. Like ribs and sternum, like the days of work, like the months to build a hull, Seven are children of The Unending Gaze. All are true and right in the way of Efteta, and one should hope to meet them in the Fieft. All are worthy of reverence. If you seek the blessing of one or more of the children, keep your craft simple but sufficient.
In the Fieft you hope to meet the Keeper of Bones, to mortals named as Lu. His favour can be requested with a cairn, or some prefer an incantation. Non-rock cairns have been known to work. Lu was created to bury bodies in the first graveyard, in the GreatSea. To all avoc he represents order, and is not only invoked in burial rites or incantations, but is often invoked in fair trade and orderly commerce.
In the Fieft you hope to meet Riverblood, to mortals named as Ja. Her favour can be requested by pouring fresh water into seawater. Ja was created to use the water of the GreatSea to help Lu keep bodies in graves, and soon came to be able control all water. Ja is seen as one of the more important of Davoto’s children, and is the patron of sailors. Whether on sea or space, the flow of water is likened to not only space but also time.
In the Fieft you hope to meet the Skull of Many Thoughts, to mortals named as Lo. Her favour can be requested by an unbroken thought. Many take this to mean a long incantation or invocation, though many avoc understand it as a request of the natural world, requesting her favour by offering a plant from root to leaf. Some avoc will use a long blade of grass and its roots, while others will use a young sapling whittled down to one branch as long as it remains unbroken from root to tip. Lo represents knowledge and wisdom, and solved the problem of how to keep bodies in graves. She is invoked by labourers for patience and honest work.
In the Fieft you hope to meet Lieyos Lich, to mortals named as Sca. Her favour can be requested by creating something anew and ranges widely from cooking a fresh meal, to ringing a bell to produce a pleasing tone, and like many children of the gaze a simple invocation. Sca represents ice, but also creation and compassion. Her blessing is sought for marriages and births across Pale Shores.
In the Fieft you hope to meet Watermouth, to mortals named as Ce. His favour can be requested by making a whirlpool and placing food for aquatic creatures into it, or by placing a feather into a fish’s mouth. Ce was created to speak to the aquatic life of the GreatSea and is often invoked by travelers for safe encounters with wildlife of all kinds.
In the Fieft you hope to meet Stoneheart, named to mortals as Le. His favour can be requested through incantation alone and must become habitual, bordering on ritualistic. Though Le believed predominantly in the power of the self, he stressed to other avoc that they must never refuse aid they are capable of providing.
In the Fieft you hope to meet the Lord of Blades, named to mortals as Mis. His favour can be requested by sharpening a blade, or by laying claim and swearing to defend something. Mis was created to train and aid Ce and is the first avoc to be recognized as a warrior with blade alone.
