As some would say, not all who wander are lost. After decades more of observation, we are coming to the understanding and realization that these caves were in fact used by avoc generations ago. In some instances, we do believe that caves are being used for some purpose in modern times but this does not seem to be the case across Pale Shores.

For those unfamiliar – this text builds upon the work of Ok’Fou in Caves and Our Captivation (436 A.T.) – caves in this context are both the sea-caves and landlocked cave and cavern systems that specifically make use of light and water in ways that appear to be related to worship of Davoto. Beyond this we understand little more. We know that our ancestors used these caves for activities that seem to have mystic connotations due to the iconography left behind seemingly referring to magical abilities and practices unknown to the Dav and modern worship.

As previously reported, we continue to have widespread reports of young avocs traversing the caves, and have a large number of confirmed sightings of the young leaving the caves. The young seem to have an unexplainable urge to wander the caves, but this has so far not aided our knowledge of them. When they return, most refuse to explain what they find and those who do try. All young refuse to go with adult avoc and in many cases refuse to travel to and from the caves with any other avoc even youth. In the time since the publication of Caves and our Captivation we have since reconvened with avoc who have been recorded leaving caves as young avoc and are now adult. Like the young avoc who are willing to talk, but find themselves at a loss of words on how to explain why there were there, and what they did.

Until it is known what has transpired in the caves and continues to be the reason young avoc are drawn to them, the consensus among researchers is to exercise caution. While were are now aware that the caves served some purpose to avoc generations ago, there seems to be no threat posed by continuing to allow young avoc to continue to explore them. However, we caution that adult avoc do not follow suit.
