The Blade

The Blade

The Blade overlaps the westernmost edges of Pale Shores and the northern boundaries of both Matriarch Grove and Parallelium and is one of the most sparsely populated sections of Omneutta. Long, wide stretches of low lands are predominantly where shani dwell, with mountain ranges and highlands surrounding them that sculpt weather patterns as well as house the wildlife of the space. For non-shani the terrain is often tough to navigate outside of these settlements, which are not usually open to outsiders. The fauna of the area is often dangerous—even to shani—and are masters of navigating this treacherous landscape.

Regions

Some of the harshest mountain terrain can be found here, and the mist can obscure the true depth and height of rocky features. Southern Ridge is the geographically distinct Region in The Blade. Here, like in much of Vale Reef, the planet-stars and star-planets are close enough and humid enough that mist and water vapour moves freely through space, as the atmospheres are just weak enough to allow it. Due to the mist, entire planet-stars can sometimes be obscured, and the area is considered somewhat off limits to space-travelers.

A Region by proximity rather than geographical distinction, Western Edge is home to most of The Blade’s shani. The wildlife is more vibrant here as well comparatively, as the need for extreme sight and climbing adaptations are not necessary to survive. Western Edge, like the rest of The Blade has rough geological features that rise to highlands and mountains and swoop down to rolling hills. The climate below the highlands and mountains is stable, whereas the temperature above the frostline swings wildly throughout the year, and has a large range during the day.

Locations

While not the first known, the planet-star is the first recorded incidence of Reykata. Alekodst had long been a stronghold held by what was once the Reign of Bitis. Early in the 900s the Reign began losing its footholds in the North-Eastern section of The Blade and Bitis slowly became a Remnant. As time passed a multitude of circumstances such as the Reykata forced the entire Remnant onto one planet-star, and eventually their numbers thinned to perhaps only a sole survivor.

Alekodst is notable for its “floating continent” where the Remnant stashed its means of communication with other Sha’an, and most of their high-end technology—almost all gifts as well. This continent was tethered to the main continent by cable to the capitol of Bitismov.
