Poria (pn. pohr-E-ah | pohr-ya) are by far the most intelligent Sentient Species in Omneutta on average, the Poria can usually be found dedicated on their work towards some new discovery or making current technologies better. Their parent Deity, Porrair was brought about to catalog the discoveries of her fellow deities, and the Poria follow in her footsteps. Most of the technological advancements in Omneutta come from the Poria.

Poria were created by Porrair in collaboration with Aster to aid the former Deity in her cataloguing of experiments, and to conduct experiments that she could not perform alone. As such, their culture is steeped in scientific progress in so much that many of their traditions are derived from experiment results.

Poria have red, red-orange, or yellow “skin”, which is really their blood and organs as it courses around between hardened rock-plates. Due to internal viscosity, they rarely lose any of their internal lava, but rather “burn” it off through the day as it additionally acts as the energy to fuel their movements. There are a few places where the hardened rock-plates do not melt back into the body or move which are the collar around the neck, the hands, and feet coverings. As the rock plates made by two of the three Poria species are somewhat porous, some pori have developed the ability to push magma through their plates, which melt the immobile plates if the magma courses through them for too long.
There is little to no anatomical or biological difference between the three races, as the difference is due to minerals contained in the lava present in both parents. A pori’s race is determined by the highest mineral content in the samples exchanged between adults, and the pori will grow up best suited consuming this kind of lava. Typically, consuming lava leads to slight tints in a pori’s overall colour, as well as hardened plates that are made while a body has a different mineral balance than its race results in mismatched plates. Certain mineral contents will weigh slightly more or less than the average.
Ylargi (pn. yuhl-ahr-gih) are the most well-recognized of the Poria races, due to the abundance of the mineral composition that produces this race. The plates don’t naturally form with only jagged edges or bulbous spots—they are generally more smooth than either lumpy or sharp. The plates resemble the mineral basalt, producing medium-gray rock plates.
Yleia (pn. yuhl-ei-ah) are the reddish race of Poria, having been borne from parents who consumed high amounts of the reddish lava that produces Rhyolite when cooled. Their plates are a lighter gray, with a tint of pink, and are usually fairly lumpy.
Yluiar (pn. yuhl-uh-ih-ar) are by a good margin the rarest of the three Poria races. Their bodies are yellow and produce obsidian like dark-grey/black plates. These plates are jagged edges, but are not usually sharp enough to puncture clothing. They are also the race whose plates are non-porous.
Jibhaga (pn. jihb-hah-gah) is composed of dots and lines that represent vowels and consonants respectively. Each letter or grouping is monospaced in the script, meaning each character takes up the same amount of space. This includes spaces between words. Reportedly, early pori created the language after being dissatisfied with Porrair’s lengthy and non-descriptive Ontrett script. However, by many analyses Jibhaga takes up more room and is generally longer to express a thought than Ontrett, so what the early pori intended with the language has become unclear over time.
Government and Social Structure
The Poria run their government as a Constitutional Monarchy that functions more like a democracy, as any law created has to be ratified by every level of government beneath, including the citizenry. With this model, the citizens as a collective have the highest political power, but the Hanullzis, the acting Monarch has the most political power of any individual.
There is no real family structure in Poria culture. Poria are produced when two Poria exchange magma from inside their bodies. This can be done by one Poria sticking their hand inside another and pull out lava, which then mixes with their own, or by Poria offering each other bits of lava. This lava then cools and hardens into a shell. Once hardened, it is left on the ground for tracers, who find them with Cukalls. Once found, they are collected and cared for as part a series of groups of Poria who take care of it until birth, then as it ages.
Poria do believe in the Deities as an overall species view of religion, but do not see any benefit of worship this far into After Time. They believe the deities when they claimed at the Timekeeping Reset that they would no longer meddle in mortal affairs, and as such do not find worship a productive use of their time. The logic is thus: If the deities already were going to do what you ask of them, there is no point; if the deities were not, they have promised not to change things on behalf of mortals.
Relations with Other Species
Despite their apparent lack of conventional aesthetics, the Poria do desire to be seen in a positive light by the other Sentient Species, as evidenced by the aesthetic space for eyes that some make on their heads. This is also apparent in their speech, while speaking in Omnel; their sentences are always constructed in ways that prevent confusion and they speak without contractions in order to appear more civilized. Culturally, pori can seem steeped in tradition because they are uniformly willing to abandon any tenet of their society if they find a better, more efficient way to to anything – often creating the illusion that they have been operating any particular way for long periods of time.
Early Poria music was composed largely for religious ceremonies to honour Porrair and other Deities before they shifted as a culture away from open worship. Presently, Poria musicians are funded and employed by the government for single purpose music. Research has shown that certain musical gestures, sounds, and instruments when exposed to dormant individuals can induce a more productive dormant period for the inner workings of the body, so these musics are created and disseminated across cities during the dark period, or are available during the light for those who are employed during the dark. More research must be undergone to find music that can achieve a similar effect on awake and working pori.
Poria are far and away the most technologically advanced society, and their innovations are often mimicked by or in some cases shared with the other species. They were the first species to achieve space-faring status and their early designs are still in use by others around Omneutta. Their obsessive focus on innovation has come at a price though, as their cities, buildings, and technology of all sorts can be visually off-putting to say the least.

Parallelium is most notable for its widespread inhabitants, the Poria. Their structure and architecture dominate and often eradicate what naturally formations and geography exist. Pori have spread themselves evenly across Parallelium, though there are congregations at both city-centres and notable planet-stars and star-planets.
