Ypx here—today we’re going to be listening to “Harv’s Island (Day)” from Animal Crossing New Horizons.
We’ve covered New Horizons on this weekly listening session at least a couple times, but over the past couple days I have been spending time listening to this music. While I was certainly a fan of the tambourine and bird chirping that used to exist at Harv’s Island, I have to say that I am pleased with the inclusion of this music. There’s also a night variant, but I like the day one a little more.
The simple and up-beat guitar rhythm makes this track very relaxing for the vast majority. With a syncopated rhythm in the accompanying part and a melody line that flows smoothly from a straight rhythm to syncopated higher notes, the track very easily gets you swaying back and forth. I think my favourite section begins around 1:30, with all parts moving to the top of the range almost like a ukulele for a short refrain.
